Spring Fling

At least that's what the papers I have used are called! Here is my take on the sketch over at Sketch Saturday this week. I thought it was about time I used my Hanna stamps again, and felt like working with bright colours tonight! After colouring the image with the citrus colours, using Marvys, Gelly Roll and a couple of watercolour pencils I needed to find some papers to go with the colour scheme.... fortunately I remembered somewhere in my stash I had these papers from Blonde Moments - I have them in pink and purple as well, I think they are fab, even got a WOW from my teenage daughter, so can't be all bad.......
I stamped the base card with VersaMark ink to give a watermark finish (you will need to enlarge the image to see this) then played for ages with the various papers deciding which order to put them in! When the card was finished I felt it needed some sentiment, so used the 'Passion for Fashion' stamp from Rubber Romance.
I had hoped to make a couple more cards this evening, but have been having a nightmare, keep smudging them or watercolour running or going over the edges. I really need to find a good quality card stock to stamp onto and feel the need to buy something else to colour in with. All suggestions gratefully received..... lots of you seem to be using Prismacolor pencils or Promarker or Copic pens, there is so much choice out there :-s
Gonna admit defeat for today and head for my bed, busy day tomorrow, going girly shopping with DD after we have been to the RAF careers office - must remember to wear my flat shoes - she can shop for England , I trained her well....LOL. Think I got the best deal as DH is taking the boys and one of their friends to watch cricket at the Rose Bowl.

Really need to organise my craft room, its sooo messy at the moment, I am lucky to see any of my cutting mat. Nearly chopped some ribbons by mistake earlier!! Hoping to pick up some storage solutions at Ikea tomorrow, any ideas greatly received. See ya later.

Papertake Weekly - Sketch challenge

This is the card I have made for the PTW sketch challenge this week. The image is a Rubber Romance image. BP is from Dovecraft , Glamour prints pack, mounted on pearlescent card. The strip across the middle of the card was embossed using the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder, which was then sanded with very find sandpaper to take the top off of the dots, not too clear in the picture - sorry :-( best I could do at this time of night!
Hope to a bit more crafting time this week - watch this space!

2 in 1 challenge

Hey, 2 posts in one day, can't be bad! I have soooo many challenges to catch up on, I am combining them where possible.
At SBS18, 'This weeks challenge is to come up with a card, page or atc that is nice and summery.I'm thinking, beach, summer sun and all things sea-sidey!!!'
and
at Cute Card Thursday 'The challenge this week is to make a card with an outdoors theme '
The card above, which is in complete contrast to my last posting, should qualify for both of these challenges.
The image is a Rubber Romance image I received from Jilli in a PIF, I still need to PIF, which I will do once I get my act together! CS from The Paper Mill, one piece put through Swiss Dots embossing folder. BP from stash.
Not sure whether to make another card now or tidy up?

Melanie the Shopper, Rubber Romance

Here's a card I made this weekend, just because I wanted to, not for any challenge or anyone in particular! The image is from Rubber Romance, 'Melanie the Shopper' stamped in brown and coloured with my new watercolour pencils..... Background paper from DCWV paper stack. Happy Birthday peel off added to punched circle with ribbon tag, attached to card with 3D foam pads. I really must order some EZ mount as this was the second attempt at stamping the image, the first time the stamp fell off of the acrylic block onto the card I was going to use, so I ended up using double sided tape to make it stay in place!

2 in 1 challenge using my SWISS DOTS embossing folder!!

Its been ages since I've blogged, as last week I was busy organising a weekend away for me and DH, without my teenage daughter finding out!! We were going to leave her 'home alone' for the first time, but she is nearly 18 as she keeps reminding us! We had a great weekend away in the New Forest, even managed to find a couple of craft shops! Everything was fine when we got back, daughter still alive and kicking! She did phone me to ask how to boil an egg earlier today tho!!

Anyway, I've had 3 days away from the computer and crafting so was getting a bit twitchy, so once I had got all the washing sorted I headed to my craft room to do a couple of cards. One was an order from a colleague, which I will post later (if I remember) and the other was for the My Time To Craft challenge this week which is

'Brads & Eyelets'- Use brads or eyelets or both!

I have combined this challenge with the Friday Sketchers challenge in a bid to get back on track with challenges!

I used 'Melanie the Shopper' stamp from Rubber Romance, with a brad 'I love shopping, mounted onto the background papers using brads. Image was stamped with Brilliance ink pad, pearlescent lavender and coloured with pearlescent orchid and marvy pens. I used my new Swiss Dots embossing folder, which I managed to track down at long last (like looking for hen's teeth trying to track these down!), handmade paper, pearlescent card and ribbon from stash.

We went to Shaftesbury on Saturday and found a wonderful bead shop, of course I had to buy a selection of beads! I have several projects in mind, got so much I want to do, could do with more hours in a day, not having to sleep, or packing up work!!

First Rubber Romance card

Finally - here's the first card I've made using my new Rubber Romance stamps!! Its quite a bit stamp, so had to make this an A5 card. While playing thought I would follow the sketch challenge thats over on Friday Sketchers this week.

Image (Vivienne loves her shoes) stamped with Adirondack ginger ink pad, coloured in using watercolour pencils. Background paper from DCWV, Retro Prints paper stack. The sentiments were freebies that the RR seller included in my parcel.
