Second card this week, on a roll now!!

Managed to escape to my craft room today.... I was supposed to be going to 2 classes at The Glitter Pot with Jenny Mayes but sadly it was cancelled as Jenny has had a fall and couldn't get there :(. Get well soon Jenny, hope I can get to one of your classes soon.

Anyway here's the card I made today, did a bit more colouring with my copics and dug out my Magnolia stamps that have been tucked away somewhere safe for a while.

I used the sketch from the Just Magnolia challenge this week and colours from the picture inspiration at Papertake Weekly.
The pink paper is MME Bloom and Grown, not sure about the purple paper.

Am off now to knit some more of my socks, might not be back for a while as I get in a tangle with 4 needles!

On a roll now....

Posting 4 days in a row... can't remember the last time I managed that. I've made a few cards over the weekend, during the big tidy up.... Clare, I keep thinking of you, and chuckling at your comments on your WOYWW post recently! I am now tidying up mid card - it's working at the moment, although there is still another area on my worktop that I have to tackle - maybe next weekend, but I think its the NEC show and its a long time since I've been there.....

Anyhow, onto my card. I've had this image coloured up on my desk for a while but haven't been able to find papers to put with it but while sorting out one of my paper piles I came across this bee glitter cardstock I bought from Hobbycraft eons ago! It's very glittery and sparkly IRL and I'm glad to have used some of it finally.
The stamp is one I got in a swap with Tasha, thank you, I just adore it, she is so cute, gonna try it in another colourway sometime soon. Coloured with copics and finished off with some glamour dust. Other cardstock is from DCWV citrus stack, sentiment and punches SU! except the swirl punch which is EK Success and the Martha Stewart border punch. Raffia ribbon from Hobbycraft, sticky gem butterflies from The Range.
I am entering this card into 4 challenges
Cute Card Thursday - Celebration, they are celebrating their 2nd birthday
Charisma Cards - Butterflies, I know they are small, but they are there...
Just Magnolia - Sketch, lovely one to work with
Back tomorrow with a DT card for a fab new challenge at Creative Card Crew.
Have a lovely day.

Blue Tilda & Edwin

Another card using one of my favourite Tilda & Edwin images. I have followed the sketch at Just Magnolia and used the colours blue, white & silver as per the challenge at Colour Create.
I coloured the image with Promarkers, dug out an old DCWV Christmas stack. A bit of distressing on the turquoise cardstock, snowflakes from various punches. Ribbon and brad from stash. I ended up using a small peel off greeting here, as I didn't have a text stamp small enough to put in the space I had left! Nearly forgot to add a lil' bit of Glamour Dust on the edges of Tilda's coat, well a girl's got to have a bit of bling hasn't she?

Has anyone received their Christmas Magnolia kit yet? Hope they get a move on, otherwise won't have time to do it justice.

Am off out for something to eat this evening, day off tomorrow, so should be able to fit in some crafting.... Have a great evening whatever you are up to.

Distressing - the card and me!!

I've had a distressing evening in my craft room - you can see the result below.....

I've just got the hang of using distress inks around the edge of my papers and images, can do the sandpaper bit but using the blade of the scissors filled me with dread..... I came out in a hot sweat but had to give it a go as per the tutorial at Just Magnolia this week.
Image was RAK, coloured with copics as per the colours this week at Copic Colour challenge and layout is from Sketch & Stash challenge. Papers are old stash, Papermania I think and textured card is DCWV.

Should be off to bed now but maybe I could fit a bit more colouring in before I go...
Have a good weekend whatever you are up to, wish I was off up to the NEC but gotta get my eyes tested, getting to that funny age, and then bathroom shopping :-(
Still there's always Sunday....

Finally ...... Just Magnolia

I love the challenges set over at Just Magnolia, but for the last few weeks just don't seem to have managed to get a card in on time, so I am really pleased to have got this card made in time for this weeks Monochrome challenge.

I've made a few monochrome cards lately using copics, just got a good selection of greys in one of the sets. I think Tilda looks 'all dolled up with nowhere to go' in this image. Backing papers from stash and a DCWV glitter stack I've had forever. Sparkly brad is a Papermania one, ribbons and blooms from stash.

I've used the sketch from Papertake Weekly and the scallops on the sentiment mean I can enter it for My Time to Craft challenge - 3 challenges in one card.

I'd better go and get the dinner on now, else I'll have 3 hungry teenagers after me.

Peace and quiet at last....

Day off today, got the house to myself, the sun is shining, could it get any better?
Thought I would start off with a card - before I tackle the chores:-(

This card is for 2 challenges, Just Magnolia which is to use handmade flowers (I really must buy the larger retro flower punch....) and Basic Grey which is a sketch that is great to work with - I even decorated the inside of the card!
I coloured the images with Distress Inks, and layered the Tilda using silicon glue just to ensure I got the correct positioning, I wanted to cover the strawberries at the top of the box.
I used some of Chocolate Box card, scrunched it up and used a sanding block to reveal the pink core, not tried this before, quite pleased with how it turned out although most of it is hidden under the upper layers!
Punches are from SU! except the lil' retro flower which is an X-Cut one.

I feel a few more challenges coming on but ought to put my washing out now and get some coffee and toast... have a great day whatever you are doing, hope to be back later.

Butterfly Tilda goes 3D......

As mentioned in my previous post, here's the project I've been working on over the last couple of days along with commissions and the odd spot of painting - watercolour where I can get away with it, otherwise emulsion :-(

Create 4 Fun challenge this week is a template to make a tag bag. Well my printer is throwing a wobbly, so I cheated a little on this one and cut my tags using a Sizzix red die and stuck those to a box, dimensions look about the same as the template, so hoping thats OK.

The Just Magnolia challenge this week is friendship and the Just Magnolia Monthly challenge is to 3D an image, so thought I would combine all 3 challenges and make the tag bag, which I haven't filled as I wanted you to be able to see the inside which I have decorated with offcuts of paper and a matching card.

Here's the other side of the tag bag. I felt it needed a bit more detail, so dug out some headpins and beads to add that bit of bling!

I love this image, these colours and papers, although I'm not sure I will be working with them again for a while, especially after water colouring about 6 images of Tilda, I was seeing Shabby Shutters and Spiced Marmalade in my sleep LOL!

There are 2 layers of Tilda on the tag bag and 4 on the card. I really enjoyed this technique, I hadn't thought of doing this to stamped images although not quite sure why, decoupage has never been a favourite of mine although I loved making medallion cards when I first started card making.

Anyway off to enjoy the sun while its out and do a spot of colouring, hope to catch up on some blog hopping later tonight.

Just Magnolia at the beach

Had to ink up a couple of the Lazy Summer Days stamps for the challenge at Just Magnolia this week which is a sketch with the option of a tag.

Another attempt with the distress inks on this one, think I'm getting there with these lil babies but not finding them as easy to use as markers, I have a tendency to overwet the paper or it bleeds onto a different area :-(.

Stamps - Lazy Summer Days from Magnolia
Papers - DCWV Citrus stack, purple cs is like Bazzil Bling
Inks - Distress inks, Memento - Rich Cocoa
Tools - Punches from SU!, EK Success, X-Cut
Embellies - Bead caps - Bead Cafe, Brads - Papermania

What a challenge!!

You know when you're making a card and the finishing touches just won't happen? Had that problem with this card. I stamped and coloured the image with copics, thanks Rach, for the tip off, really enjoyed this bit but it just wouldn't come together with the flower in the top left and I couldn't decide on a sentiment so at 1.15am I decided perhaps I should go to bed and revisit it in the morning.

I'm really pleased with how it turned out, love the summery colours which reflect the weather here today, not like 4.00am this morning when I was woken by torrential rain and a thunderstorm!
I am going to enter this card for 4 challenges
Friday Sketchers - sketch
Cupcake Craft Challenges - beach theme
Creative Card Crew - under the sea
Papertake Weekly - 4 seasons, colour scheme reflecting the season

These are the copics I used to colour in this image, love using these pens but need more practice and more pens!

Recipe
Images - Lazy Summer Days Magnolia summer kit
Sentiment - Hero Arts set
Papers - DCWV Citrus stack, mirri card from stash
Colouring - Copic ciao as above photo, Tempting Turquoise SU! ink
Tools - MS border punch, SU! scalloped circle and large oval punches, 1/2" circle punch, Cricut George & Basic shapes cartridge

Am off to get some breakfast now, see you later.

Another obsession!

I'm gonna blame Bev for this new obsession of mine - distress inks... thanks very much sweetie!
I had no interest whatsoever in these inks until I saw Bev colour an image with them at Newbury - well I just had to have some to have a play with - I bought several reinkers rather than the pads to try, no prizes for guessing whats coming next - yup you've guessed, had to buy some of the ink pads, some cut n dry foam, now on a mission to collect the set - I just love working with them, need some more practice tho!

Anyway onto my card which I am entering in for 3 challenges - its the only way to go these days with so many challenges about.

The challenges are:-
- Just Magnolia, distressing
- Sunday Sketch and Stamp, wasn't too keen on the sketch at first but it's grown on me
- Dutch Dare, to use lace

I used images and a sentiment from the Lazy Summer Magnolia kit, MME Bloom & Grow papers and of course distress inks. I don't usually do messy, if you look at the state of my craft room when I have got my stash all over the place you may not agree with me there but generally I like everything neat and tidy so this wasn't too easy for me. I used a Heidi Swapp distressing tool for the edges on the green layer but could only bring myself to distress the edges on one layer, didn't want it to look scruffy - daft thing is I love it when I see all the other distressed edges out there in blogland. I used cut & dry felt to tint the edges of the other layers and am really pleased with how this turned out.

Lazy Summer Magnolia

Here's one of my much awaited Lazy Summer Magnolia stamps, coloured with distress inks. I find it so relaxing painting with these inks, although I need lots of practice with them, tried another one tonight which ended up in the bin as the colours bled.
I love this image, conjures up images of summer - wonder when it will get here??
This weather is definately making me think we should have booked a holiday abroad this year, there's still time tho!
I'm going to enter this card to the Just Magnolia challenge this week, which is a great sketch.

My first attempt with distress inks

I have never used distress inks before but after seeing Bev use them at Newbury, I had to have some! Here is my firt attempt using them, it was very theraputic painting with them, think I need to get some more colours.....

I'm going to enter this card for 2 challenges the first is Just Magnolia, a sketch this week by Mina. I used my Butterfly Tilda stamp that I got at Newbury, still not received my summer kit, grrrrr..... I dug deep for this Papermania double sided paper, really like the colour tones, which pick up the colours in the main image.
The challenge at Creative Inspirations is to use gems and/or pearls, more Newbury purchases, lovely Kaiser craft pearls, an absolute bargain, had to get them in all of the colours LOL!! Flower punch from XCut, MS border punch, SU tag punches and sentiment, image coloured with distres inks and twinkling H2Os.

Am off to finish off the ironing now, got last bit of school uniform to do :-( still only 1 more weekend, then 6 weeks off, for me and the kids - yippee!!!! Lots of crafting time.
