Cute Card Thursday - Family Affair

Haven't managed to join in CCT for a while now, but have a day in and thought I should catch up with some challenges and card making - especially as the weather is a bit grim!

Challenge 53 - "Family Affair"
A nice easy one for this week!! We want you to make a card for a member of your family. As simple as that. Could be mum, dad, husband, son, sister - anyone!!

Mmmmm who should I make a card for, Mum's birthday is on Tuesday, but that card is on its way to New Zealand at the moment, haven't got any family birthdays until May now, and that is far too organised for me! Settled on making a card for my FIL whose birthday is at the beginning of May and decided to use some of my new SU! goodies that arrived last week and been crying out for me to play with them!
I decided to make a Z fold card, cutting A4 cardstock in half lengthways. I thought I would use the truck image from the Loads of Love set and my new Washington Apple DSP which are available on the new mini catalogue from 1st April. The image was watercoloured with co-ordinating inks. I think it needs something in the top left corner, but not sure what so will leave it for the time being. DOH just realised that I should put Dad on there, am off to do that now, will put new pic up later.
All I have to do now is put it somewhere safe and not forget about it LOL, perhaps I should make a card keeper!

Recipe
Stamp Sets - Loads of Love, Loads of Love Accessories & Polka Dot background
DSP - Washington Apple
CS - Bashful Blue, Pumpkin Pie & So Saffron
Inks - Versamark, Black, Bashful Blue, Pumpkin Pie & So Saffron
Accessories - Scalloped Oval & Large Oval punches
All from Stampin' Up!

If you would like to get your hands on some of the new stash from the Mini Catalogue please contact me to order. I look forward to hearing from you soon....

Mum's birthday and Mojo Monday week 79 challenge

Its my Mum's birthday next week so thought I had better get her card made and in the post quickly - yep, she's still in New Zealand, lucky devil...

I thought I would use the sketch on Mojo Monday this week. When I saw the sketch I knew just the image I would use, it was one I bought on an unmounted A5 sheet at Newbury last summer. The colour scheme had to be purple as its one of Mum's fav colours and thought I would use the poem 'When I am an old lady I shall wear purple'

I haven't used these stamps much, for fear of upsetting the receipient but as Mum has a great sense of humour, know she will appreciate this card! Anyway she's too far away to smack me if she doesn't!! Only joking Ma, if you are reading this. Lovya heaps and have a fabby birthday xxx

Some cards I can show now!

I made this card recently for my SBS21 sister Heather. It was her birthday last week, so have held off till now as I didn't want her to see it on my blog until I knew she had received it! I used all SU! stash as she is a fan of these scrumptious goodies.
Recipe
Summer By The Sea stamp set, Polka Dot background stamp
Stampin Pastels
Cardstock - Close to Cocoa, Creamy Caramel & Bashful Blue
Ink - Close to Cocoa
Punch - Tab
DSP - from Love Stories Simply Scrappin kit

I found the pattern for this mini magazine file on a blog somewhere recently - sorry can't remember where, if its your idea, thanks for the inspiration, let me know and I will add your info to my blog. I thought I would make a set of notelets using one of the stamp sets I got in my SU Starter Kit. I have been making these for a while, but have just finished off the last card - thought these would make a lovely gift for someone. One of my mates is very fond of notelets, so think I will be making some of these sets for her. Am still trying to use up some of my non SU paper mountain, in a bid to clear some space for SU stash - it could take a while!
Recipe
Cardstock - Paper Mill
BP - K & Co paper stack
Fun & Fast Notes stamp set
Watercolour Wonder crayons

This next little baby is winging its way to New Zealand as we speak for Mum for Mothers Day. This is the first year I will not have seen her on Mothers Day so it will be a bit strange, I will have to make up for it when she returns - in May.....
I recently received the Crazy for Cupcakes set, my choice of stamp set as a reward from the recent Sale A Bration promotion. Well I had to ink it up straight away didn't I?? I decided to make a spring card and used some of the scrummy papers from Sweet Always designer papers - great value at only £7.75 for 12 sheets of double sided papers. I stamped the image onto Confetti White card, coloured the image with Watercolour Wonder crayons and added Glamour Dust to the cake stand and Glossy Accents to the icing and cherries on the cakes. I used both tag punches, not that you'd know as I had to hide the angled end under the main image.

Chipboard Promotion - 25% discount until 31 March

So I haven't managed to make a card tonight, been busy blog hopping and cleaning up after having venetian blinds fitted in the kitchen/family room and my craft room. My eldest son commented he had never seen my craft room so tidy!! It wasn't tidy, just looked bare, as I'd had to clear the work surface - cheeky devil, shame he's not so particular about his bedroom!

For this month only there is 25% discount on the chipboard ranges detailed below. Mojo Monday week 77 challenge

Don't get excited, 2 posts in as many days, and a card for a challenge that's only a day old! Found the Mojo Monday challenge while blog hopping recently, and here is my entry for week 77, a great sketch to work with and one I am sure I will use again.

The colour scheme was dictated by the blooms, I discovered a K & Co Addison pad in the back of my cupboard, one I've been keeping for best! I stamped the base card with Polka Dot background stamp from SU! with a Versamark ink pad. I've left this card without sentiment at the moment, not sure what occasion I will use it for!

Hope to be back later this evening with another card.

Lots of celebrations

I had lots of cards to make last week, 5 birthdays and 1 anniversary card. I start out with the best intentions to post more regularly but yet again its gone by the wayside - here are some of the cards I made last week - forgot to photograph a couple of them.

This is the card I made for my sister's birthday last Monday. I saw the design in the March issue of Making Cards, I really like it, as its just a bit different, I've used it for several cards already. I intended to make the card in pink and brown, so I could use it for a challenge but ended up with pink and black when I found these black dotty blooms in my stash.

It was my MIL & FIL's 54th wedding anniversary on Thursday. I had to dust of my cricut and cuttlebug embossing folders for this one! Hearts cut from George & Basic Shapes cartridge and Swiss Dots embossing folder. The cardstock is pearlescent and has a lovely gold tinge to it, not very clear in the photo.

One of my friends has a double celebration in her house on Friday, her son's 18th and husband's 50th! What a day! Ian & Ellie (her son & my daughter) used to go to the same child minder when they were babies and we have kept in touch since then. Good old Cricut came in useful again for cutting out the numbers (George & Basic Shapes). Cheers to you stamp set was used to stamp the base card with Versamark ink pad. I put a couple of photos in Ian's card of a great day out we had when they were about 3. I had a lovely time browsing through photos of when they were babies! I really need to start scrapbooking, I have so many photos in packets!

3 in 1 challenge

I don't seem to have done many challenges for a while so thought it was about time I got my act together and took part in a few..... I took a look at the Monday challenges, noted them down and disappeared to my craft room (wireless network doesn't work that far, not worked out how to remedy that yet, and don't really have the space for laptop out there!)

Had a rummage through my stamps, stamped a few images up, couldn't decide what to do when I discovered the Dress Up Maggie stamp, such a cute one to work with, looked at the 3 challenges I had written down and hey presto, my card was designed, I could combine PTW, MTTC and Sketch and Stash challenges in one card.....

Papertake Weekly - this weeks challenge - Hot Chocolate! ol It's a colour combination challenge, the Pink and Orange is the 'hot' part and the brown is obviously the chocolate!

My Time To Craft - Challenge 51 is - HATS

Sketch & Stash - challenge no 5.

I just love the Sweet Always papers (new stash) I have used here, love the colour combo, the image was stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa ink pad, coloured with Watercolour Crayons, Only Orange, Pixie Pink and Chocolate Chip ink pad, using watercolour brush. I added a bit of bling to Maggie's boa with Glamour Dust. Image mounted onto Chocolate Chip cardstock and backing paper from Sweet Always set. The sentiment is from the Wonderful Words set, stamped in Choc Chip ink onto Choc Chip cardstock, punched with ribbon punch and added to card with double sided tape. The flowers are some I bought ages ago, just had to have and don't think I have ever used any of them(neglected stash)!

Backing paper - Sweet Always - SU!
Colouring - as detailed above
