Edwin & Tilda again......

Not had much time to blog lately, I had an open day at home on Thursday and was at a local junior school Christmas fair on Saturday, in between was catching up on housework :-( & Christmas preparations.... oh and a bit of patchwork !!!

After all that hard work I felt I deserved some time in my craft room.....

There are so many great challenges about at the moment I was spoilt for choice but settled on the sketch at Papertake Weekly, the theme at My Time to Craft, which is Winter Pals and making a Christmas card using non-traditional colours at A Spoon Full of Sugar. There really was only one stamp I could use for this card, it has been well inked of late but here goes another card....
Image coloured with copics to match the papers from DCWV Xmas stack, snowflakes made with Punch Bunch stamp and brads from stash. SU! punches got another outing on this card too to make the little stopper that makes the card stand up.

Anyhow had better be off to bed now, work tomorrow, it's silly season at the moment, so much going on, but my favourite time of the year at work. I love listening to the children practising the Christmas concert. There are 2 performances tomorrow and Tuesday so its gonna be busy!

Finally a card.....

I spent a couple of hours sorting my craft room yesterday evening and as usually happens I got sidetracked and ended up making this card.

I was given this image as part of a RAK, thanks Paula. I chose the papers first, from my current favourite, MME Magnolia stack, then chose the colours for the image.
The layout is the sketch at Papertake Weekly this week, and I am also entering it for the My Time To Craft challenge 'Under My Umbrella' and Crafty Creations challenge of 'Metal/Metallic Finishes, hope my lil' brolly charm qualifies for this.
What a faff it was getting the links together and trying to get the charm to dangle how I wanted it to!

Finally ...... Just Magnolia

I love the challenges set over at Just Magnolia, but for the last few weeks just don't seem to have managed to get a card in on time, so I am really pleased to have got this card made in time for this weeks Monochrome challenge.

I've made a few monochrome cards lately using copics, just got a good selection of greys in one of the sets. I think Tilda looks 'all dolled up with nowhere to go' in this image. Backing papers from stash and a DCWV glitter stack I've had forever. Sparkly brad is a Papermania one, ribbons and blooms from stash.

I've used the sketch from Papertake Weekly and the scallops on the sentiment mean I can enter it for My Time to Craft challenge - 3 challenges in one card.

I'd better go and get the dinner on now, else I'll have 3 hungry teenagers after me.

Christmas in August

I've had a busy couple of days, not made any cards since Thursday, thought I had better put that right today! When I eventually got up, I ventured into my craft room and have only left it to eat! Been busy catching up on commissions and challenges and trying to avoid football which is on almost every telly in the house - its gonna be a long winter!

I am entering this card for 5 challenges
Winter Wonderland - Twinkle Sparkle
Sunday Sketch and Stamp - sketch challenge
My Time To Craft - Christmas
Dutch Dare - Christmas in August
Passion for Promarkers - Cocoa & Rose Pink

I'm doing quite well making Christmas cards so far this year, think this one takes it into double figures! It will be so nice not to have to burn the midnight oil in December making cards, I'll probably find something else to keep my busy tho!
I love this Edwin & Tilda image, one of my favourites, it reminds me of when I was a keen ice skater - a long time ago, too much of a wuss now!

Recipe
Stamps - Magnolia, Edwin & Tilda skating, Cuddly Buddly, Xmas sentiment
Paper/Card - Paper Mill, DCWV Xmas paper stack, Snow White pearlescent card from the Range
Inks - Memento, Rich Cocoa, Promarkers, various shades including Rose Pink & Cocoa
Embellies - Card candy from Craftwork cards, Glamour dust
Tools - MS snowflake punch, SU! circle, scalloped circle and corner rounder punches

Back tomorrow, lets hope for a bit warmer weather.....

Manga boy rocks 3 challenges

Must have tempted fate with my earlier comment about the beautiful sunshine as no sooner had I posted that then the sun went in and its been quite dull and chilly ever since! What an excuse to shut myself away in my craft room.

I had a look through the current challenges and with some of these in mind this is what I came up with.....

I used some new rubba, Manga Boy from Funky Kits, which arrived last week, but I haven't managed to ink up, until today. I coloured the image with Promarkers as shown in the picture below and used Basic Grey Archaic papers and offcuts in varying shades to match.

I am going to enter this into the challenges listed below:-
Passion for Promarkers - sketch challenge this week, no specific colours
MTTC - neglected or forgotten stash, the papers and Super Stars stamps from Banana Frog which I found lurking in the back of my cupboard - never inked up I think!
Creative Inspirations - doodling.

Trapped in my craft room!

I've been confined to barracks today as the plasterer was in skimming the walls and ceiling in the hall, stairs and landing, so I took advantage of this and shut myself in my craft room.
I managed some blog hopping, caught up on a few challenges, made a few cards and made some inroads into the pile of half finished projects!

This card has been designed with 2 challenges in mind, using the sketch this week on Papertake Weekly, and the theme of 'Floral Frenzy' at My Time To Craft.

I coloured Daisy using my distress inks, mounted onto various offcuts of card that were on my desk and Basic Grey papers as the base layer. I added a little bit of bling on either side of the main image and to the flower centres. The sentiment is from the Oval All set stamped onto shapes cut with the large oval and scalloped oval punches.

Another early start tomorrow as the plasterer is back, let's hope the weather is a bit better, with a bit of luck the plaster will dry out a bit quicker, I hate that horrible damp smell of new plaster.

Cats on Cards with embellishments

My first thought when I saw the MTTC challenge this week was that I didn't have any stamps featuring cats - then I remember the Penny Black set I bought a couple of weeks back.....

Here is my card, image and text from Penny Black, image coloured with watercolour pencils, I used glossy accents on the balloons, pearlescent paper background embossed with swiss dots folder. Images mounted onto CS from Paper Mill, with adhesive gem embellishments in the corners, ribbon from stash.
I am going to use this card for the ABC challenge this week which is 'E for embellishments'.

Where did that week go!!

Another week gone and not a lot of crafting done...... I have been busy with birthdays, shopping and catching up on all those jobs that I never seem to get the time to do when I'm at work. I have had my head in a really good book this weekend, but I have finished it now, so back to some card making! I have managed some craft shopping and yesterday morning I had a delivery of stamps from Funky Kits.

I have combined 2 challenges on this card, the sketch from Papertake Weekly and the Christmas theme from My Time to Craft. I used the Christmas Fairy, coloured the image with watercolour pencils, gelly roll glitter pen and a sprinkling of silver glamour dust, I really must get the gold one, another item on my evergrowing shopping list!

Need to tidy my craft space tomorrow, it is so messy I keep losing things!! Hope to get that sorted and catch up with some challenges.....

Red, Black & White card - MTTC challenge

Today is the first day of the holidays I have had to myself, not had to do anything or be anywhere, absolute bliss!! Needless to say I have tucked myself away in my craft room, windows and doors open so I don't miss out on the lovely weather. Here is my take on the MTTC challenge eventually - I have been having a right old time trying to upload this picture grrrr...... still its here now!!
The challenge is :-
'This week we have picked a colour theme, 'Red, Black and White'.
I used a red triple fold base card, DCWV papers from black and white stack. The flowers were cut with George & Basic Shapes cartridge and I attached them to the card with black gromlets using my Big Bite. I filled the centre of the gromlets with 3D glaze and topped off with micro beads. Greeting and ribbon from stash. I even managed to make a similar card with the off-cuts from this - two for the price of one!

4 challenges in one!

At last the drought is over...... this is the first card I have made for over a week!! Its such a grotty day, so have decided to lift my spirits by shutting myself in my craft room to create! Here is what I have come up with - a 4 in 1 challenge. It meets the challenges set on My Time To Craft which is 'Seasons', uses the sketch set on Friday Sketchers, loved using this layout, will defo use it again, the Stamp Something challenge which is to use something that sparkles, shines, glimmers or glitters and finally the DCM challenge to create something that reminds you of winter or makes you feel cold, phew......
Disaster nearly struck when I stuck the stamped image directly onto the green paper, stood back to admire my work and then realised I had forgotten the gold mount :-O, I just about managed to prise the image off with minimal damage, thank goodness the mount was that bit larger!
I enjoyed making this card, my first Christmas card of the year, somehow it doesn't seem right making Xmas cards when the sun is shining, so I was OK today, as it felt more like the middle of winter, with tumble dryer on in the background, wind howling outside, only thing missing was the heating being on, but even I resisted the urge to press that switch!
The image and green bp are from the DoCrafts goody bag for July/August, which I treated myself to yesterday while at a demo.
Am off for dinner now, back later hopefully, with some more cards....
